{Book} One Day

I just read this book over the weekend - it was gift from Cailin. And when I say gift, I mean she finished it when she was staying with me, bawling on the floor with a bottle of red wine in hand. So obviously I had to read it.

It broke my heart. It was gorgeous, engaging, funny and melancholy. It tells the story of two friends, Emma and Dexter, who are incredibly real in their flaws, banter, and neuroses. I saw myself, my friends, and my family in this story which speaks to the skillful way that Nicholls constructs his characters. Dysfunction and perfection meet in this epic novel.

It was an easy read, considering the emotional craziness and poetic style of the author.

Just read it. Go out and buy it and read it now.
