{Music} Let's Go Sailing "Sideways"

Adorbz.

Thoughts on Snow

It's supposed to snow soon in London.
This worries me on several points.

1. I don't do snow. I mean, I have never done snow. Already, it is so painfully cold to me that the thought of it being painfully cold and to be slipping and sliding on icy snow patches scares me. A lot.

2. Back to the cold thing. The most money I have spent here so far has been on HeatTech undergarments - shirts, socks, leggings, tights - I bought the whole line. And I'm still cold. It might be a mental thing, but it hard to teach my old body new tricks when it has been trained by California sunshine.

3. Apparently London shuts down when it snows. The whole city, including the tube, just stalls. Classes are cancelled, flights are delayed, meetings are rescheduled - kind of like when it rains in LA. And London as a whole is worried because they are expecting snow about two weeks earlier than normal, which coincides with my journey home. This worries me.

I like the idea of snow and chestnuts roasting over an open fire and all that jazz. But I like that idea when its confined to my television set.

But then again, snow is really, really pretty.

Vision of Winter

This reminds me of me. Warm socks, toast with fig jam and replace the coffee with a mug of tea.

OMG I want an itsy-bitsy owl

so cute - I'm dying

13 days...

Till I get to go home...

Becky left this morning and I'm sad for several reasons. One that I don't get to hang out with one of best friends every day and have and excuse to act like tourist, overeat and shop. But also her leaving signifies a much needed return to work and school and reading and more work and more school and more reading plus three presentations and two papers.

There are certainly things to look forward to: dinner with my cousin this Tuesday, a dinner date with my friend Hannah, Bordeaux this weekend with Sam, and the Nutcracker with Cailin and Alexandra next week!

I just need to get on the ball and get my stuff together. Then it's sunny California and my honeybunny family!

I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful that Becky is here to spend Thanksgiving in London. I am thankful for my amazing time in London so far. I am thankful that it might snow today. And I am thankful that in two and a half weeks I will be chilling in California sunshine!

{Travel} Paris at Twilight

{Travel} Shakespeare & Co

The most beautiful bookstore in Paris, where writers like Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, and Ford Madox Ford hung out. Becky and I stumbled on it when we were walking back to our hotel one day. Coincidentally, my bffl back home, Sara, posted a link to my wall about this place the day after we went.

{Skype} Pics of the Week

I love my friends and love taking pics of them when they don't know.
Mach's model doggie. Too cute. I wish my dogs posed like this.

Lex looks gorg even when she's gorging. jk. but no seriously.

Jess, Mei and Lela! My loves in a pic. I scared the life out of Lela when I dog-sat her once. I can't begin to apologize to her. But isn't she adorbz???

Rob finally got skype! Now all we need is a latte for me and an iced americano for him and it'll be like we are together.

I miss my hair

So I always get a bit nervous going to the hairdresser, especially since I was eight and the hairdresser chopped off my waist-length locks and gave me a bowl cut. A BOWL CUT. People started mixing up Jason and I. And they just stopped like two days ago. Just kidding. Anyway, I had long hair throughout college. Until I went to Aveda and chaos ensued.

I have healthy hair. I know that. I don't dye it. I don't blow dry it. Essentially, it's untouched, virgin hair. And maybe just a little frizzy sometimes.

So I go to Aveda and this new girl says she needs to take a couple of inches off. I have like 5 billion inches of hair, so I said fine. She says five, I say three. But then this old dragon woman comes by and says there needs to be more than 3 taken off. So I said "okay, just take off whatever to make it healthy."

I thought she was going to take off five.

She took off 10. TEN FREAKING INCHES. TEN INCHES. THAT'S LIKE A FOOT, WHICH IS LIKE ALL MY HAIR.

so since then, I have felt like a shorn sheep. Yes, I know, my hair falls below my shoulders. I'm definitely not a shorn sheep. But it feels like that. I miss my hair.

And I know my hair didn't look like this when it was long, but I saw this photo today and teared up a little.

{Event} Firsts at the Royal Opera House

I found this cool event called Firsts at the Royal Opera House called Firsts, that we are going to tonight, so Becky, Sam and Alina and I are going tonight. It's a series of sorts and new performers showcase their art. Here is the program for tonight:
MILKWOOD RODEO

THE SUGAR BEAST CIRCUS
A performance inspired by holy men and Hollywood - an autobiographical fantasy capturing performers' memories of life on the road with an Indian circus. The piece fuses physical theatre and unique and elegant aerial work with animation and projection to create a strange reality. Milkwood Rodeo was developed with the support of The Roundhouse and Arts Council England.

SPILTMILK SAY DANCE

SPILTMILK DANCE
Performed by the award-winning Spiltmilk Dance company who use their distinctively quirky style to put a new spin on popular social dance crazes of the 20th century. Dance phenomena such as The Twist, Disco and Ballroom are re-imagined to create a completely new dance experience.

THAT WAS THE TIME I STOPPED

AMY BELL AND VALENTINA GOLFIERI
Surreal flights of fancy, fears and hallucinations are spliced together by two enigmatic figures to create a makeshift sense of reality. This is darkly humorous dance in stop-frame.

THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE

GENIUS SWEATSHOP
The Man Who Wasn't There is a glimpse into the life of 'Albert' - a man whose memories are fragmented and who is becoming increasingly drawn into a world of senile confusion. Albert's stories are told through a unique blend of puppetry and circus by London based company Genius Sweatshop. Genius Sweatshop has been gratefully supported by Crying Out Loud, La Breche (Normandy), The Blue Elephant Theatre, Ideas Tap and countless individuals.

Tickets: £5
Running Time: Approx 2 Hours | 2 Intervals

Yay - Sam is coming tonight and Becky tomorrow!

So excited for a little piece of home to come see me. Sam is arriving tonight so I'm bustling around, cleaning my room. And by cleaning, I mean shoving everything in my wardrobe. Although I am going to take out my overflowing trashcan. It's pretty gross.

I love London, but it'll be great to have some California "gurls" in my life for the next few days! too bad we can't wear our daisy dukes with bikinis on top (it dropped to 35 today. yay.)

Becky and I at the beach like ten billion years ago

and yeah, I totally stole this image off Sam's FB profile.

{Skype} Pics of the Week

Machiko! We discussed her apt decor! I finally got to put my starred blog posts to use. I want a cute apt too!
'

This is why I love my Aunt Mote. Period.

Paige and lil' Mo should be friends. I think their goal is to freak me out on Skype. Who wouldn't want to come home to this?

BFFL <3

Cassi! We've been trying to Skype since I moved here and it was nearly impossible, but we made it happen yesterday! woot. Of course, since it was a Sunday, she was watching football, so most of the time, she wasn't making eye contact, lol. ("Did they just make a goal?")
