Life Lately: Halloween Version

So this past week was crazy, but when is life not? :-)

Monday: Indian dinner with bffl Paige at Pradeeps on the westside (not spicy enough) and trivia with the housemates.

Tuesday: Local Natives show at the Satellite with Karly. I love LN - I knew these boys in college and on top of being talented musicians, they are lovely human beings.

Wednesday: Hocus Pocus + Dinner with Lorna and Haley with La Poubelle (amazing, amazing filet mignon, mussels, and gnocchi - great French food.) Plus, Sophie finally met Hudson, Lorna's adorable chocolate lab and they fell in love instantly.

Thursday: Class till late - sleep. But I made a delicious balsamic glazed brussel sprout and butternut squash flatbread and Sophie chewed my socks.

Friday: Christable's birthday at Onyx (Happy Birthday girl! love you!) and drinks with V at Varnish.

Saturday: Intense baking and preparing for the Halloween party - which was amazing - thank you to everyone who came out!

Sunday: major cleaning, reading, breakfast at Home with the housemates and dinner at Red Hill with Evan. Yum -> beignets, porkbelly flatbread and apple galette. Plus, at both restaurants, I can take Sophs and they are absolutely wonderful with her.

Now: SLEEP.

This week: a memo on sexting, a memo on ineffective assistance of counsel, a draft on transgender sex trafficking, 40 textbook solutions, source collection, and cite checking for Annenberg. Good night world.

(I'm doing fun stuff too - Tuesday is the Daughter show with Alexis, Wednesday is Halloween and Friday, I need a girls night out. wooooo. xoxox)

What I've Been Up To

Folk music at Footsies. Baking Chocolate Chip Cookies. Watching Puppies. Hiking. Hipster Wine. New restaurants. First Aid Kit at the Fonda (AMAZING). Homemade Pumpkin Thyme Mac and Cheese via Spoon Fork Bacon. Scary Movies. Argo (go see it - so good - love Ben). Lots of work. Planning for our Halloween Party. Getting over strep throat (gross.) Runs around the Reservoir. New Boots. Work. More Work. Some More Work. Superhumanoids artist in residency at the Echo. Delicious Maple Custard Pie from the Pie Hole. Pumpkin Beers (love Rogue and Dogfish's Punkin).

Other news:
- Sophie had her last big medical treatment, which was a hernia operation. The doctor called me at 10am and told me the surgery had gone well and to pick her up at 3. I went at 2:30 (of course), and her doctor said at 10:05am she was ready to send Sophie home bc she already had so much energy. <3 baby="baby" bear.="bear." my="my" nbsp="nbsp" span="span">

- After getting sick this past weekend, I'm re-prioritizing my health. Since Sophie got her shots, we'e been doing a lot of hikes, runs and walks. But I want to reintegrate some yoga and eat better. :-)

- School is great. Work is amazing. But I need to be more forward-focused.

xoxo

Massive Weekend Post: The Black Keys, Florence, Hiking, and Red Velvet Pancakes

I had an epic and productive weekend. The major highlights were Tegan and Sara and the Black Keys at the Staples Center on Saturday and Florence and the Machine at the Hollywood Bowl last night.

Some breakdowns:

Friday:
I took the pups home so my mom could pamper them with organic chicken and fish stew. At least I got bacon for breakfast. Jenaba and I hit up Casa Bianca for some pizza and chianti. Very sweet and retro and just happens to be Obama's LA pizza place from his days at Occidental.

Then I met Aline at Verdugo for some girl talk. Great beer garden and good convo. Then I met Ellie and Ryan for a drink at Little Cave. Delicious Green Flash and laughs and I love the exposed brick.

Saturday:
Machiko and I did a massive Mt. Washington urban hike with the pups on Saturday morning and then met Veronica for brunch at Home in Silverlake. Super beautiful patio and dog friendly. We had the red velvet pancakes, the eggs benedict and the veggie burrito. Loved loved loved the pancakes - not too sweet.

Then the Black Keys!!! So after a epic win with a parking enforcement man (I ran like a gazelle to save myself), V, Stef and I headed to the Farm and shared several plates of food. The Truffled mac and cheese - be still my beating heart and a couple bottles of wine and went to the show. My love for Tegan and Sara is near obsessive and they were great, although I wish the set was longer. Then the Black Keys just killed it. Phenom. They were absurdly good. Then V disappeared after introducing us to some new friends. We then hit up Tony's Saloon - yay photo booths and got late night Thai. I think I went to bed at 4:30.

Sunday:
Picked up my dad - I was in a rather rough state and went back to the OC where Sophie basked in grass and sunshine. Then went back to LA and Sophie hung out with my Dad, while Aline, Haley, Justin and I hit up Kitchen24 for massive burgers and (sweet) strawberry cocktails, then headed to the Hollywood Bowl. UM. FLORENCE IS A GODDESS. I WANT TO BE HER. SHE IS PERFECTION. Good drinks and company and just amazing.

Yeah, so my weekend was one of the best ever. I went to two new venues that blew my mind. Although they were big, the sound was good and the performances were crazy legit. And I just got to hang out with my best friends all weekend and cuddle with my family. Like too perfect.

Sophie's First Hiking Trip

This past weekend, Sophs went on her first hikes and she was just a regular lil mountain goat. But after all that hiking, she was exhausted at night and was ready to cuddle, so that was pretty awesome. I'll update on more later. But meetings to go to and drafts to draft. xoxo.
