Four down. One to go.

So close I can taste it. I just finished my final on U.S. Health Policy and have a Gender and Development one on Tuesday, so I fear I will be MIA again for the next few days. But in the meantime, here are some updates:
1. Seda and I have decided on our apartment and we move in June 15. Photos and more exciting stuff to come soon.
2. Having dinner with Hannah tomorrow and Jade on Sunday. Jade just moved back to London from Australia and I haven't seen her in months, so I am so excited.
3. After my last final on Tuesday, I am going straight to Heathrow to pick up Seda.
4. Our itinerary for her time here:

  • Tuesday, the 21st: St. Pauls, the Thames (London Eye, Big Ben Parliament, Westminister Abbey), pub for dinner (early sleep lol)
  • Wednesday, the 22: Trafalgar Square (lunch at the Crypt, National Portrait Gallery), Covent Garden and shopping on Oxford, Indian food - fly to IBIZA
  • Thursday, the 23rd- early the 26: Ibiza
  • Sunday, the 26th: Camden market, Regents Park, Canals
  • Monday, the 27th: BATH
  • Tuesday, the 28th: Victoria and Albert, Sloane Square, Hyde Park, clubbing
  • Wednesday, the 29th: The Breakfast Club for brunch
  • Thursday, the 30th: I fly home!
5. I took a day off from the gym today because I've been feeling under the weather and it's raining, but tomorrow, I'm going full force. Now excuse me while I finish my day with some bad TV.

Experimental Cocktails, Alina's GoodBye and New Shoes

Finals are halfway done! So much has been going on, I haven't been able to wrap my brain around it. On the West Coast, Seda has been apartment hunting for us and we seemed to have pinned one down, so keep your fingers crossed for us. My honeybunny whiskerbobes graduated with our amigos in Santa Cruz and I was bummed that I couldn't be there for the festivities, but so so so proud of him :-) On this coast, I have been studying to the point of brain atrophy and wrapping up my school year with some fun things. Last week, Alina, Leiley, Maya, Petra and I went to the Experimental Cocktail Bar in Soho. We heard about it from a friend and the only thing to identify it is the blue door in the middle of Gerrard Street. It was two floors and had this speakeasy/vintage London vibe and we had amazing cocktails. All the girls each got a different cocktail, so we could have a little taster. One was called Tea in Africa - the main flavors were rooibos tea and some sort of peach mint liquor. Rob asked me "if it tasted like colonialism." LMAO. (Wow, I've never used that acronym before - can't say I like it, but it seemed approps.) I got one with Rhubarb and pink champagne. My favorite was called the Old Cuban, but I can't remember all the flavors. Tasted like heaven though.

The next day, we celebrate Alina's going away :-/ at the Breakfast Club with Leiley and Kumar. I'm going to miss Alina but she's onto bigger things, like an adorbz little puppy at home...

And then I splurged yesterday with these amazing shoes that were on sale at Kurt Geiger. I'm not even going to post the sale price because I'm scared of maternal retribution, but since my family were all having a great time in Santa Cruz and I had to take a final, I thought I would treat myself.
In the last few days, Leiley and I have been gymming it, I've been doing a ton of studying and we went on a lovely long walk through St. Pauls and down the Thames yesterday. (I'll post pics later.) For the rest of the week, more studying for finals, apartment organization, booking my trip to SF/Portland, more studying, and tonight, Maya, Leils and I are taking my shoes on a night out on the town (which will be a quiet night with a glass of wine at another cocktail bar we've been wanting to try.) xx

What did I do with myself...

When I didn't have exams? The last few weeks have been hectic with studying and writing and now I have a brief two day reprieve. But instead of relaxing, I've been mulling over where all my time went pre-studying. What was I doing for all those months? Obviously reading and going to class and such, but I definitely wasn't as productive. And now I just want to get back to work on something. Which is good, because I have three more exams.

But my day off was lovely. A breakfast date at Sweet, a meeting with my advisor and then a stroll down Oxford Street, where I found a couple of bathing suits for Ibiza, sheer blouses and some cute lingerie. Still on my list are flats, maxi skirts, a pink pencil skirt and anything with bows. Then I went to the gym and read Vanity Fair. So yeah, it was a pretty legit day :-)

On the itinerary for the rest of the week? Studying, gymming, lunch with Aniela, dinner with the girls, brunch to celebrate Alina's year in London (agh she is leaving us on Friday - no me gusta.)

I want to hit up Spitalfields this weekend to purchase some vinyls for my new player, which I am in the process of ordering - lol, I just have to commit.

Fun times, peeps.

Chillin & {Inspiration} & {Music} Tennis

Paper back. Another final down. Chinese in SoHo and a virgin apple mojito at the Breakfast Club. I'm about to pass out.
Meeting my advisor tomorrow and then hopefully will see if my ankle can make it through a normal run, although I tried today and it didn't end too well, lol. So I'll leave with you with some summery inspiration. Sleep time.

Life During Finals

Or lack thereof.
Becker, Kabeer, Deutsch, Bergmann, Hirschmann, Katz, Agrarwal, Murdock, Sen... Theorizing the Household... Plus like five billion more. I took a final on Thursday and then I have one tomorrow and three more over the next two weeks. But I do get some reprieves - like lunch with my cousin and a trip to Oxford. But agh.
Anyway, here are some random shots from the last week.

I'm STRESSED. So I'm taking a few days off this blog/two days to recenter and focus on my exams and the cute new French guy working at my neighborhood cafe. (Like, he is really cute.) And nursing my ankle, which I injured when I slipped off the curb on a rainy afternoon. But I didn't spill my latte - silver lining.

But I love this song. I love folk-y stuff. I love sunsets. I love lemonade out of mason jars, which I have never actually done but now want to after listening to this song, even though it doesn't mention that idea.

Yeah, so back to Freud, Foucault and Butler.
