Monday Morning!

I should be working on blogs for work and catching up on reading, but first my lovely weekend update!

I caught up on American Idol on Friday and fell in LOVE with Steven Tyler. I mean, I always had a little bit of a crush, but he is just amazing. And hilarious and sweet. And hilarious:
"Shit fire and save matches, fuck a duck and see what hatches" - love it.

Late start Saturday, but a much needed respite. Went to brunch at the Modern Pantry with Maya. I love this place. We ordered lattes (of course) and I ordered the Vattalapam spiced French toast, apple & tamarind puree, maple syrup, bacon while Maya got the scrambled eggs and toast with smoked bacon, slow-roast tomatoes, and buttered mushrooms.

Afterwards, we went shopping which was probably a bad idea. Because I bought the following from this boutique called Sublime.

Then we stopped by the stores in Angel and Maya picked up shoes from All Saints and an adorable lilac top. We finished off the evening being wooed by old Italian men at an Italian restaurant in Exmouth Market.

Sunday, I ran to Hyde Park and met Maya, Mollie and Erica in Hyde Park for a late lunch of gruyere cheese burgers for them and a butternut squash and basil sandwich for me. The weathers and the lattes were perfect. Then I ran back home and worked until the wee hours of the morning. And now it is Monday and I feel rested and happy and ready to get working!

:-)

Coffee Quip

So Leiley, Maya and I were having coffee before class when Maya let out this gem:

"I am confident. I know I'm legit. The point of having my bf say that is to remind him that he is with someone who is legit."

Lovesit. And I love my friends.

{Music} Edward Sharpe in London

My friend Karly sent me this link to the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros in the Old Vic Tunnels. - I'm so excited I could die. So I told my London friends that we are going. This is what I'm dealing with:

God help me.

{Music} She & Him - Don't Look Back

Agh I've been having nightmares almost every night. bad news bears. on the bright side, ireland is almost settled, and brighton, oxford and winchester are a go.
had a thai lunch and going shopping later. then of course lots of work. I'm chillin though as long as I can keep those fruity pebble monsters at bay.
massive focus this weekend is my dissertation with a trip to hyde park?
coming to terms with my future - maybe the nightmares are my subconscious putting its two cents in...
:-)

How precious is this video?

{Travel} Camping/RVing

Many tend to think I'm a princess when it comes to, well, anything. On the contrary, I really love camping and hiking and all things outdoors (as long as there isn't cliff diving, snakes, or out of control bonfires.) I'd love to pack up an RV and camp and see more of the US. And yes, I'm completely aware that these photos aren't a realistic vision of that experience but they are soooooo pretty, so sorry 'bout it.

{Music} First Aid Kit - Tangerine

If I could sing, I would sing like this.

{Inspiration} Monday

Getting up this morning was probably the hardest thing I will do all week. But the good news was that Jas was online and I got to Skype with him! I think that was the best way to start my day (plus the extra large latte from Sweet) and that they start making it when they see me walk in :-)
I have class at 3, but I'm just reading and blogging till then. On the agenda this week: reading, some more reading, work blogging, probably some more work blogging, and trying to find more good music.
I think I have figured out what my dissertation will be on, so updates on that later. Some big decisions about life have to be made soon., but I'm also putting that on hold for as long possible - immersing myself in research about sex trafficking seems a little less stressful right now. Should also start to plan Katie and Sara's big trip out here and get plans for Ireland settled. Also on the itinerary: Bath, Oxford and Brighton??? I love living here.
On to my inspiration for the week:

Hope in the world: lol - the stories I have heard this week warranted this:

I want to do something like this in my apartment when I finally get one in the near or distant future. I love how unique a collage like this would be in someone's home. Daily inspiration in the flesh.

Everything about this photo is perfect. I want the braids, the dress, the sunglasses and the bike. Oh and the purse and the basket and the shoes. kthanks.

The shoes of my dreams. They. Are. Perfect.

Happy Monday!
xoxo

Weekend Musings

The last couple of days have been ridiculous - you just can't make this stuff up. Not really going to go into it, but it included a table (!) at the amazing London club, Whiskey Mist (so much fun!), a day of recovery which included seeing someone who doesn't live in my building projectiling all over our kitchen, followed by a trip to the ER with my friend (she's fine now) and then an all-day study sesh. Add in some great news from home with some awful news from home, breakfast with my cousin and too much chocolate. I need a break from my weekend. So now I'm catching up on episodes of Law and Order: SVU and watching Blue Valentine which is breaking my heart. Loving people is too much work sometimes. As Laura Marling says: Maybe I should give up giving. Well, at least for today. I need a cup of tea. But watch Blue Valentine and listen to this music. I have to say that BV wasn't the best choice for a recovery day, but it's beyond gorgeous and melancholy.
